पूर्णमदः पूर्णमिदं · Pūrṇam adaḥ — pūrṇam idaṃ. पूर्णात् पूर्णमुदच्यते । · Pūrṇāt pūrṇam udacyate. पूर्णस्य पूर्णमादाय · Pūrṇasya pūrṇam ādāya. पूर्णमेवावशिष्यते ॥ · Pūrṇam evāvaśiṣyate. — Isha Upanishad.
पूर्णमदः — · Pūrṇam adaḥ — THAT is Infinite. The cosmic, the outer, the Divine Ground — the great world beyond.
ADAH is not a place. It is the boundless field in which all existence arises and dissolves. The infinite outer.
पूर्ण — Infinite. · Pūrṇa — Infinite. Not merely vast. Not merely complete. Infinite & Non-Dual — beyond all pairs of opposites.
पूर्णमिदम् — · Pūrṇam idam — THIS is also Infinite. The inner immortal self, this breath, this thought, this pulsing awareness.
IDAM is not small. The inner world is not less than the outer. It is the same infinity wearing the mask of the personal.
The inner immortal self and the great cosmic power are one and the same. This is the Upanishad's central declaration.
ADAH: the outer infinite. IDAM: the inner infinite. They are not two. The membrane between them is the illusion we call boundary.
पूर्णात् — From the Infinite, from the Whole, from the Undivided — something is taken out.
Aadaya — taking out. Not subtraction. Not division. Something is drawn forth from the boundless ground.
Every universe, every self, every thought — drawn out from the same infinite, inexhaustible source.
How can the finite emerge from the infinite? How can THIS come from THAT? The equation is about to answer.
पूर्णमुदच्यते — It is THROWN OUT. It is BORN. The finite emerges from the infinite ground.
This throwing-out is not a loss to the source. The Infinite does not diminish when the finite appears. ADAH remains whole.
You were not cut from the infinite. You were expressed from it — like a word spoken without depleting the voice.
Every self is a gift of the Whole to itself — the cosmos becoming personal, the infinite learning to say I.
पूर्णस्य — Of the Infinite. Of the Whole. Of the one undivided ground that precedes all arising.
The source does not shrink when it gives. The ocean is not reduced by the wave it forms. पूर्णस्य — the Whole remains.
Modern mathematics confirms: infinity minus infinity still equals infinity. Vedanta knew this 3000 years before Cantor.
From Infinite, take out Infinite — Infinite remains. This is not arithmetic. This is the nature of being.
पूर्णमादाय — · Pūrṇam ādāya — Taking the whole. Not a part. Not a fragment. The entire Infinite, taken.
The finite self contains the whole infinite. Not a piece of it — the whole of it, seen from one angle.
Every part contains the whole. The wave is the ocean. The self is the cosmos. IDAM is ADAH — from inside.
When you were born, the Infinite was not divided. The whole of it poured into this form, and remained infinite still.
पूर्णमेवावशिष्यते ॥ · Pūrṇam evāvaśiṣyate — Left as Remains. What is left over? The Infinite. Only the Infinite.
Infinite minus Infinite: Infinite remains. Infinite from Infinite: Infinite remains. The equation is complete.
Pūrṇam from Pūrṇam. Wholeness from Wholeness. From the complete, comes the complete — and complete remains.
The inner immortal self and the great cosmic power are one and the same reality. ADAH = IDAM. पूर्णम् — always, only, everywhere. · Pūrṇam — always, only, everywhere.
